NOVEMBER 2021: WITH JANET BOOTH
Janet Booth considers herself a conversation-opener about death and dying. She has worked as a nurse for many years at the intersection of quality of life and end of life, as a hospice/palliative care nurse and as an end-of-life coach and educator. She serves as faculty for the Integrative Nurse Coach Academy, the Conscious Dying Institute, and the New York Open Center’s integrative thanatology certificate program; and presents workshops on the transformative possibilities of end-of-life care. Additionally, Jan is the author of Re-Imagining the End-of-Life: Self-Development & Reflective Practices for Nurse Coaches, and one of the co-authors of Bold Spirit Caring for the Dying. When asked recently by a colleague to sum up everything she's learned over decades of end-of-life studies, Jan replied, "Exploring and talking about our mortality changes how we live."
OCTOBER 2021: WITH MICHAEL BUFFINGTON JR.
Michael Buffington is a professional Concept Artist in the video game and entertainment industry. He is a graduate of the Academy of Art University where he earned his BFA in Illustration in 2003. Aside from teaching and lecturing, he works as a freelance illustrator producing storyboards and concept art for video games, animation, and film. In 2008, Michael worked as the In-house designer and Props supervisor on a high-profile CG animated feature film entitled Alpha & Omega. Michael also worked as a Designer for Lucas Film Animation on the Third season of The Clone Wars television series which aired on Cartoon Network. Michael currently works as a full-time college professor and department lead in the School of Game Development at the Academy of Art University where he built the #1 Concept Art program in the United States (#3 in the world in 2019, #5 in the world in 2020).
SEPTEMBER 2021: WITH DIANNA M. BLOM
Dianna is a survivor of cancer three times and has grown through these experiences. The most recent diagnosis of head and neck cancer has offered insights and healing in a very different way. Professionally, Dianna is an RN, BSN, NC-BC, with a total of 50+ years experience in multiple specialties, and holds a graduate certificate in Spirituality, Health and Medicine. She holds a Certification in Cross-Culture Sound and Music and is a Certified Food and Spirit Practitioner and a Therapeutic Touch Practitioner. She is currently enrolled in the Global Mystic Certification Program. Dianna has a loving and supportive family who provide her joy in every day life.

Meet my Guest Alyssa Saquilayan, BSN, RN, NC-BC (she/her) Nurse Coach, Yoga Teacher, and Reiki Practitioner born & raised in San Francisco, CA and Founder of Alyssa Coaching. Alyssa empowers Filipinxs & womxn of color to reclaim body sovereignty beyond their external qualities so that they can glow with confidence. As a 2nd-gen Filipina American recovering from a binge eating disorder, Alyssa was able to reconnect with herself & heal through deep personal guidance, thought reprogramming, and grounding practices. With a background in science and spirituality, she bridges mind, body, and soul to encourage long-lasting change in her clients' lives. She became a Nurse Coach because she acknowledges that there are not enough spaces for people of color to talk about their body image, so now, it's her deepest calling to co-create transformation, reminding others that they are worth more than their physical body - that in their truest essence, they are powerful, loving, and enough.

Serge is an Online Health & Fitness Coach and founder of the Positive High System & Rooted Parent Movement. A certified Health, Fitness & Wellness Coach since 2013 his passion is helping Passionate Parents feel like their younger selves again without the stress of restrictive dieting and hours of grueling workouts so they feel confident in their abilities to care for and fully enjoy life with their children. With this increased mental, physical & spiritual self-confidence they're able to feel their Positive High and create “movement memories” with their children and be an example of positive Health, Fitness & Wellness.
APRIL 2021: WITH DARLYN SAN JOSE
Darlyn San Jose is a Filipina American born and raised in the Bay Area. For the last 8 years, She has been working as an occupational therapist with the geriatric population at a PACE program (Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly). Darlyn believes that OT is her calling and feels blessed to have a career that she is passionate about. She met her partner in college, got married in 2016 and are now raising an almost 2 year old. Recently, Darlyn started her own podcast called wifeymomz where she discusses their journey as an LGBT family, women empowerment and spirituality/healing. This year she became a reiki practitioner, energy healer, and also started a crystal jewelry business with her cousin where pieces are dedicated to different family members and 10% is donated to various organizations. Finding herself in the past 13 years and living her truth unapologetically and authentically empowers her to help and empower others.

Lauren DeVera is a certified life coach, positive psychology practitioner, mindfulness/yoga teacher, and choreographer dedicated to empowering others through movement, mindfulness, introspection, and self-care. She received her degree in Dance Performance and Communications from Old Dominion University and has been teaching professionally for 11 years. A distinguished thought leader and educator in the arts community with performance and teaching credits including The Kennedy Center, Howard Theatre, Dance Place DC, Culture Shock DC, World of Dance, BET, CW Network, George Washington University, NPR, and Dept. of Energy. Combining her love for people and the arts, she created and founded The Lion’s Den, an inclusive community connecting through movement, wellness, and self-expression. A passionate self-care facilitator, you can find Lauren hosting workshops and healing circles centered around connection, transformation, and living on purpose. She's the host and creator of the Thrive + Thread podcast, a sacred soul space for others to lean into self-love, personal growth, and creativity. You can find her reading, writing, and drinking coffee in her free time!
FEBRUARY 2021: WITH PATRICK I. EMELIFE, M.D.
Patrick Ifesinachi Emelife, M.D. grew up in San Francisco, CA and graduated from Lowell High School. He earned an Associate’s Degree with Highest Honors at City College of San Francisco before transferring to Stanford University, where he earned a B.A. in Human Biology. After graduating from Stanford University, he attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh. He was awarded the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Medical Research Fellowship, which jump-started his career as a physician-scientist. Dr. Emelife’s unique experiences, work ethic, and enthusiasm brings him one step closer to realizing his goal of providing the highest level of care to his patients while developing, disseminating, and applying cutting-edge research to alleviate pain and suffering, promote health, and enhance the quality of his patient’s hospital experience. Dr. Giulietta Octavio, DACM (Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine) is an integrative doctor dedicated to helping people feel better in their minds and bodies so they can have healthier and happier lives. Trained in mind-body acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and holistic coaching, she's worked in private practice in San Francisco, CA since 2002. When Dr. Octavio is not at her Dogpatch clinic, she can be found running her dog, Delma, at Ocean beach, biking in West Marin or surfing in Pacifica.
